David Warner Faces Drunk Driving Charges in Sydney

According to reports, renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been charged with drunk driving in Sydney. New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday night in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement from the New South Wales Police stated that at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was given a roadside test, which returned a positive result. He was then arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in franchise cricket and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was initially reported that he would be rejoining his team ahead of their game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, after being granted time at home over Easter, but it is unclear if he will now participate in that match.
