Rangers staged a remarkable comeback at Falkirk to remain firmly in contention for the Scottish Premiership title with five games left to play. Danny Röhl's side had begun the day in third place following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday, and their prospects seemed to dim further when Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats gave the Bairns a 2-0 lead. However, Tochi Chukwanui pulled one back before halftime, and a blistering start to the second half saw Rangers take a 3-2 lead courtesy of goals from Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin.
The visitors continued to push forward, with Bojan Miovski adding a fourth before Falkirk's Calvin Miller reduced the deficit from the penalty spot after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Yet, Röhl's team demonstrated their title credentials as both Miovski and Chermiti scored again to seal the win.
Rangers have reclaimed second spot, trailing leaders Hearts by a single point, with Celtic a further two points adrift. This outcome marked only the second instance this season where the top three teams in the Premiership all emerged victorious on the same weekend, a record Rangers were eager to maintain.
The turning point in the match came just before halftime when Chukwuani's contentious finish sparked an incredible Rangers resurgence. The home team appeared to pause in anticipation of a goal kick after Raskin's cross sailed over the goalmouth, but the ball ultimately found its way to Djeidi Gassama, whose header hit the post before Chukwuani converted the rebound. Röhl's tactical substitution of introducing Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break proved pivotal. Gassama was redeployed to the left, and his low cross was flicked home by Chermiti, who soon missed another opportunity to put his team ahead.
Rangers' increased threat paid off in the 52nd minute when Raskin ran past the outside of Aasgaard and hit the Norwegian's pass first-time into the far corner. Chermiti missed another chance before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home with a cross from the left. Falkirk were handed a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller netted from the spot after Tavernier brought down Filip Lissah. Nevertheless, Raskin was involved again when Rangers restored their two-goal cushion, bursting forward before Chermiti netted after Gassama's shot was blocked.
The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait after earlier escaping yellow cards for a clear pull and embracing Rangers fans after his goal. Miovski sealed the win two minutes from time when he converted Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rangers head coach Danny Röhl reflected on the team's performance: 'Our start was not ideal, but the reaction was outstanding. We focused on our job, and it's much easier to head into the break with a win.
The spirit is great, and the connection between our supporters and the team is strong. We are one team now, and this is fantastic. Looking back, it shows a lot about our direction as a club and the importance of perseverance and believing in what the supporters have told us.'
