Blackburn and West Brom Share Spoils in Crucial Relegation Battle

Blackburn secured their third consecutive clean sheet in a goalless draw against fellow relegation contenders West Brom. Following the earlier draw between Portsmouth and Oxford, both teams knew that a win would significantly boost their chances of survival. However, it was not surprising that two sides known for being difficult to beat would cancel each other out. The only clear chance came in the first half when Aune Heggebo's effort was magnificently tipped onto the goal frame by Balazs Toth. While West Brom dominated the first half, Blackburn took control in the second, but aside from a blocked Mathias Jorgensen shot, they could not break through the resolute away defense. Blackburn's unbeaten run now stretches to four matches, with only one goal conceded, and they are six points clear of the relegation zone. West Brom's impressive run under James Morrison continues, with their unbeaten streak now at six matches, keeping them four points above the bottom three. The visitors made a positive start, with Danny Imray crossing to Isaac Price in the seventh minute, but the attacker stroked wide from 12 yards out. Albion would have taken the lead on the half-hour mark but for an astonishing save by Toth, who diverted Heggebo's powerful strike onto the crossbar. The hosts struggled to create scoring opportunities and only had efforts from Todd Cantwell and Ryoya Morishita that went off target towards the end of the half. After the break, Michael O'Neill made changes and switched to a 4-4-2 formation, which seemed to benefit Rovers as they forced two early corners. From the first corner, Max O'Leary's unconvincing punch fell to Moussa Baradji, whose half-volley sailed over.
