Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, initially broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then faced back-to-back breaks on her own serve. However, she broke Ruse to love in the eighth game, drawing level at 4-4, and then broke again to claim the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, ultimately securing a 6-4, 6-1 victory after an hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will return to the final for the first time since her debut title win three years ago, having beaten Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, before Vekic staged a comeback, but Potapova held on to take the first set. Her strong form continued in the second set, where she built a 4-0 lead, eventually securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This win makes Potapova the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, as she previously represented Russia until December 2025. The pair will meet for the fourth time, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they have yet to play each other on clay.
