Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright expressed his disappointment and sense of betrayal after his departure from the club was announced without prior explanation. Cartwright, a 60-year-old Australian, had been at the helm since the start of the 2025 season and had led the team to a seventh-place finish, their highest since 2020.
Despite his efforts, the club decided not to renew his contract, citing a six-month termination clause. In a recent interview, Cartwright revealed that he still has not been given a reason for the club's decision and feels disrespected by the lack of communication. He stated, 'When people know the facts, they can make their own mind up.
For me, I probably feel a little bit betrayed and disrespected.' Cartwright will continue to fulfill his duties until the end of the season, but the club has already begun the process of finding a new coach for the 2027 season.
