Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Renowned jockey Rachael Blackmore, the first woman to claim victory in the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted into the prestigious Grand National Legends for 2026. This distinction comes after her historic win at Aintree in 2021 aboard Minella Times. The 36-year-old, now retired, will be formally recognized in a ceremony marking the beginning of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. She will join an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as iconic horses Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on the same day. Reflecting on this achievement, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National is an unforgettable moment and being named a Grand National Legend is a significant honor. She also looks forward to launching Blackmore's Bar, an innovative addition to the racecourse. Following her retirement in May 2025, with an impressive 575 wins under her belt, including 18 at the Cheltenham Festival, this recognition further solidifies her legacy in the sport.
