Transgender Women Barred from Competing in Female Darts Tournaments

The Darts Regulation Authority has introduced a new Eligibility Policy, stating that only biological females will be allowed to participate in women's darts tournaments. This decision comes after a thorough review of its Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included a report from a developmental biologist and consideration of extensive legal advice and recent court rulings. As a result, transgender women, including Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a World Championship competitor, will no longer be eligible to compete in women's events, although they can still participate in open tournaments. Van Leuven expressed her disappointment and frustration with the decision, describing it as a significant setback for the trans community. The DRA has emphasized its commitment to inclusivity, encouraging all players to participate in open tournaments, and will continue to monitor and review its policy in light of future developments.
