Fury Vows to Make Makhmudov an Example

Arslanbek Makhmudov playfully lifted Tyson Fury off the ground during their pre-fight press conference, but Fury took the lighthearted moment in stride, joking with his opponent. As Fury prepares to face Makhmudov, he's focused on launching his campaign to become a three-time world champion. Following a brief retirement, Fury is returning to the ring for the first time since his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. This fight marks the initial stage of his mission to reclaim the world title. Fury stated, "For the first time in a long time, I'm the one doing the chasing, not being chased." He added, "I'm the best in this division, and I'll keep proving it time and time again." Fury has set his sights on the four major world titles currently held by Usyk and Fabio Wardley, saying, "They'll all have to face me sooner or later - who else are they going to fight to make any money?" At 37 years old and after a period of inactivity, Fury will have to overcome doubts about his ability to make a successful comeback, including those expressed by his own father. Fury responded to these doubts, saying, "They say my legs are gone, they say my reactions are gone - tune in on Saturday night and you'll see." He expressed confidence in his abilities, saying, "I've still got my speed, I've still got my reactions... I've done over 500 rounds of sparring and I've still got it." While Fury acknowledged that he cannot underestimate Makhmudov, he warned, "I feel sorry for Arslanbek Makhmudov - I'm going to make an example of him. I'll knock him out and show the world what I'm capable of. I'm ready to put on a show."
