In a dramatic turn of events, Hearts managed to come from behind and secure a 3-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday, thus preserving their three-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership. The first half saw both teams create scoring opportunities, with the goalkeepers making crucial saves.
However, it was Motherwell who broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half, courtesy of Emmanuel Longelo's goal from Tawanda Maswanhise's cross. The Hearts team responded in the 61st minute, with Claudio Braga scoring the equalizer from a corner kick.
The goal was initially questioned for offside, but VAR confirmed it was valid. Later, VAR intervened again, this time awarding Hearts a penalty after Stephen Welsh fouled Pierre Landry Kabore. Lawrence Shankland converted the penalty to put Hearts ahead.
The match was sealed in added time when Beni Baningime found Kabore, who scored the third goal. Hearts manager Derek McInnes praised his team's resilience, stating, 'We were under pressure, but I remained calm, knowing we would score.' Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou expressed pride in his team's performance, despite the defeat, saying, 'We took control of a difficult game and dealt with the atmosphere well.'
