Littler Explains 'Cry Baby' Remark Aimed at Van Veen

Luke Littler has shed light on his 'cry baby' comment directed at Gian van Veen following their intense Premier League Darts match in Manchester. According to Littler, Van Veen effectively conceded at the end of the match, prompting the remark. Van Veen had won the contentious match earlier this month, during which Littler became agitated after Van Veen turned towards him while throwing match darts in the deciding leg. Van Veen later stated that Littler was 'out of order' for celebrating in the direction of the crowd, which led him to stare at Littler. Littler, however, claims that Van Veen was the one who acted inappropriately by putting down his darts and staring. 'I think he's the one who's not doing his job, obviously being respectful. I think that's the first-ever time I've seen someone put their darts down in front of my face,' Littler explained. He believes Van Veen had no reason to behave in such a manner, especially when Littler congratulated him on his win. Littler also expressed that there was no need for Van Veen to stare at him when he had not yet thrown his three darts. 'From my point of view, I'm looking up at the TV, I'm just thinking in my head, 'he's not going to miss. Even if he gets a shot at the bullseye, Gian's one of the best bull hitters in the game',' he added. Littler acknowledged that the incident has created a rivalry between them, but he's focused on his game. He mentioned that other incidents in darts have been more heated, citing arguments between Gerwyn Price and Daryl Gurney. The rivalry between Littler and Van Veen may continue in the semi-finals in Rotterdam.
