Stokes Urged to Reclaim His Batting Form
Nasser Hussain, speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, emphasized that England Test captain Ben Stokes needs to revert to his old batting style. England's recent Test series against Australia under head coach Brendon McCullum and Stokes resulted in a 4-1 loss, with their aggressive playing style and preparation being criticized. Stokes admitted the past few months have been challenging, but he's confident the current leadership can move the team forward. However, Hussain believes Stokes must focus on his own game and start scoring runs, especially after a poor Ashes series where he averaged just 18.40 with the bat. Hussain praised Stokes' captaincy, saying he has a natural ability for gut feel, tactics, and man-management, but now needs to bring clarity and authenticity to the team. Stokes is currently recovering from facial surgery and is expected to miss the first month of the County Championship season. England's first Test series of the summer is against New Zealand, starting on June 4, and they will look to improve their standings in the ICC World Test Championship.
