David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

According to reports, Australian cricket legend David Warner has been charged with drink driving in Sydney. New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was pulled over in Maroubra, Sydney, on Sunday night during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, and a subsequent test at the police station also came back positive. A statement from the New South Wales Police stated that at approximately 5:30 pm, police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered a roadside test to the driver, a 39-year-old man, which returned a positive result. He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Following his retirement from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play on the franchise circuit and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was reported that he had been granted time at home over Easter but was set to rejoin his team ahead of their game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, although it is unclear if he will participate in the fixture.
