Watford Come Back to Draw with Charlton

Charlton's goalkeeper Will Mannion played a crucial role in helping his team secure a 1-1 draw against Watford. Charlton took the lead when Matty Godden scored his first goal of the season after being substituted in just after the hour mark. However, Watford equalized through Nestory Irankuda, who converted a pass from Imran Louza with an emphatic finish. Mannion made several key saves throughout the match to help Charlton extend their unbeaten away run to six games. The first half saw numerous scoring opportunities, with both teams hitting the woodwork. Charlton's centre-back Lloyd Jones headed over the bar from a Tyreece Campbell cross, while Watford's Irankunda forced Mannion to make a save. The visitors' Luke Chambers fired narrowly over the bar, and Watford's Louza had a cross come off the crossbar. Charlton carried a threat through Campbell's pace and directness, and they were awarded a free-kick after Campbell was fouled. The resulting free-kick saw Charlton's Greg Docherty head against the left upright. In the second half, Mannion made two saves from Chakvetadze and Mamadou Doumbia. Godden scored with his first touch after being substituted in, but Charlton's Joe Rankin-Costello missed an opportunity to make it 2-0. Irankunda levelled the score after 74 minutes, and Mannion continued to make crucial saves, including one from Louza. The match ended with Charlton's Conor Coady being stretchered off after being struck in the head by a shot from Tom Ince. Charlton's manager Nathan Jones expressed concern for Coady's condition and stated that he was happy with a point, given Watford's strong individuals.
