Rose Gains Confidence from Past Masters Near-Misses

Justin Rose is drawing motivation from his past near-misses at Augusta National, including last year's playoff heartbreak, as he seeks to claim his first Masters title. The former world No 1 has already secured a win on the PGA Tour this season and boasts an impressive record at The Masters, with multiple runner-up finishes. Rose reflected on his previous experiences, saying, "I hope it only boosts my belief that I can go ahead and do it. I feel like I've pretty much done what it takes to win, I just haven't walked over the line." Rose's past performances at The Masters include a narrow loss to Rory McIlroy and a playoff defeat to Sergio Garcia. He has registered 10 top-10 finishes in majors since his 2017 disappointment and is determined to finally claim the title. Rose expressed his attitude towards the tournament, stating, "I don't feel like I have to find something in myself to do something different - I truly believe that. I don't feel like it owes me anything. I come here with a good attitude. I come here with it being a place that I enjoy." The 45-year-old is aware that a win this year would make him the second-oldest winner of The Masters in history, but he insists that age is not a factor in his motivation. Rose said, "I don't think about it on a day-to-day level. Happy that the narrative around it is more positive than negative, for the most part. Definitely, there is some motivation there to keep going, keep pushing, try to find new habits, new ways of trying to get better." Rose is focused on the upcoming tournament, which will be streamed live on Sky Sports, and is confident that he can finally claim the title. With his experience and determination, Rose is a strong contender for the 2024 Masters title.
