Garnacho Reflects on Manchester United Departure, Admitting Mistakes

Alejandro Garnacho has spoken candidly about his departure from Manchester United, acknowledging he made errors during his last six months at the club. Garnacho left Old Trafford for Chelsea in a £40m transfer after being excluded from Ruben Amorim's first-team squad during pre-season. Prior to his departure, Garnacho was photographed wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford's name, sparking controversy. When asked if he regrets his exit, Garnacho expressed mixed emotions, stating, 'Maybe yes, because I loved that club. They gave me confidence from the start.' Garnacho reflected on his time at United, saying, 'I remember in the last six months I was just not playing like before at Manchester United. I started to be on the bench, it's not a bad thing. I was only 20 years old, but in my mind it was like I had to play every game. In my mind, maybe it is also on me, I started to do some bad things.' Garnacho added, 'But yes, it was just this moment in life and sometimes you have to make decisions and I am really proud to be here [at Chelsea] and still in the Premier League at a club like this.' Amorim commented on Garnacho's departure, saying, 'You can understand and you can see he's a really talented boy, and sometimes things don't work out.' The Manchester United manager situation has been a topic of discussion, with Michael Carrick potentially taking the role. Carrick has led the team to seven wins in 10 games, making a Champions League spot more likely. When asked about the pressure of being Manchester United manager, Carrick stated, 'The pressure is something I have lived with for a long time. What's expected here, how to go about achieving things, the amount of support we have, and the scrutiny is something that becomes normal after a while.'
