Nunez: My Goal Is to Become a Champion with Ipswich

Marcelino Nunez is preparing for a hostile reception at Carrow Road on Saturday, but the Ipswich player remains focused on his objective of becoming a champion. Nunez made the switch from Norwich to Ipswich in August, becoming the first player to do so since Andy Marshall in 2001. He played a crucial role in Ipswich's 3-1 win over Norwich, ending a 16-year wait for a victory over their rivals. "It was an important challenge, and we managed to turn it around and end the run," Nunez explains. He celebrated the win by waving a corner flag in front of the Ipswich fans, a moment he describes as spontaneous and emotional. Nunez is aware of the pressure and intensity that comes with derbies, but he believes his experience in South America has prepared him well. "In South America, the derbies are more intense, with more pressure, but I've played under pressure, and I think that works in my favour," he says. The Chile international is motivated to face his former team and is confident that Ipswich can take all three points. "Our mentality is to take three points and win. We are very united and focused on our objective, which is to get promoted to the Premier League," he states. Nunez's move to Ipswich was driven by his ambition to fight for the championship and become a champion. He has been impressed by the team's unity and the manager's coaching style, which he believes has brought the best out of him. With eight assists and three goals to his name, Nunez has been a key player for Ipswich this season. He credits the manager, Kieran McKenna, for his impact and believes that the team has the resources and talent to establish themselves as a strong team and fight for promotion. Nunez is relaxed about Ipswich's promotion prospects and is focused on taking it one game at a time. "We have the games in hand, so it's up to us. What I see in the team is that it's a very solid group, and with the team we have, I think we will reach the Premier League," he says.
