David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been charged with a drink driving offense in Sydney, according to reports. New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday night in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. According to a statement from the New South Wales Police, 'At approximately 5:30 pm today, police conducted stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered roadside testing to the driver, a 39-year-old man, which returned a positive result. He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104.' Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Following his retirement from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in franchise cricket and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Although he was granted time at home over Easter, it is unclear whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
