Gary Player Offers Support to Tiger Woods but Urges Caution

Golf legends Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have expressed their support for Tiger Woods, who is currently absent from the Masters tournament due to health issues. Woods has been dealing with pain and was recently involved in a car accident, leading to his decision to step away from the sport and focus on his well-being. Player, while sympathetic to Woods' struggles, advised him to stop driving, citing the dangers of operating a vehicle while taking medication. Instead, Player suggested that Woods hire a chauffeur to ensure his safety. Nicklaus also offered words of encouragement, stating that golf needs Woods and would love to have him back. Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that the organization supports Woods' decision to prioritize his health and expressed their commitment to the TGR Foundation and to Woods personally. Woods has only participated in a limited number of tournaments since November 2020, and his last competitive appearance was at The Open in July 2024.
