Sinner and Alcaraz Advance to Monte-Carlo Masters Quarterfinals

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner ended his 37-set winning streak at the Masters 1000 level but still managed to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Sinner defeated Tomas Machac 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, despite struggling with fatigue. The Italian player had previously won titles at Indian Wells and the Miami Open without dropping a set. Sinner will face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals, who advanced after his opponent Casper Ruud was forced to retire due to injury. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz also dropped a set before defeating Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Alcaraz will play Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals. Other players who advanced to the quarterfinals include Joao Fonseca, Alexander Zverev, Alex De Minaur, and Valentin Vacherot. In the Linz WTA 500 tournament, several top seeds were knocked out, including Ekaterina Alexandrova and Liudmila Samsonova. Holger Rune, a three-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, announced that he will return to action at the Hamburg Open in May after undergoing Achilles surgery in October.
