Spaun Claims Texas Open Title as MacIntyre Falls Short of Forcing Playoff

JJ Spaun secured his second Valero Texas Open title, finishing one shot ahead of Robert MacIntyre and Matt Wallace, who were tied for second place. MacIntyre's chances of a playoff were dashed when his birdie attempt at the 18th came up short. This victory marked Spaun's first win since his US Open triumph at Oakmont last year. 'This game is so crazy,' Spaun said, reflecting on his win. 'I haven't been feeling the form I wanted, and I've been trying to take each day as it comes.' He also discussed the pressure of living up to expectations after his major win, saying, 'I put a lot of pressure on myself to start the year, but I've been trying to free myself up and put less pressure on myself.' Wallace and Kim joined MacIntyre in a tie for second place, while Ludvig Åberg and Andrew Putnam shared fifth place.
