Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history as the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, is set to be enshrined as a Grand National Legend in 2026. This prestigious recognition comes after her remarkable victory aboard Minella Times at Aintree in 2021. The now-retired 36-year-old jockey will be formally honored during a ceremony on the opening day of the Grand National Festival this week. Blackmore will join an elite group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as iconic horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The ceremony will take place near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially unveil on Thursday. Reflecting on this achievement, Blackmore expressed her profound gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National was an unforgettable moment and being named a Grand National Legend is a tremendous honor. She also looks forward to inaugurating Blackmore's Bar, an innovative addition to the racecourse that promises a unique experience for attendees.
