David Warner Faces Drunk Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with drunk driving in Sydney, according to reports. New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday evening in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A New South Wales Police statement revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen stopping short of the testing site and parking, prompting officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to approach the vehicle and administer roadside testing, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to participate in franchise cricket and is currently leading the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Although he had been granted time off over Easter, it is unclear whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
