Trans Women Barred from Female Darts Competitions

The Darts Regulation Authority has introduced a new Eligibility Policy, stating that only individuals assigned female at birth can participate in women's darts tournaments. This decision follows a thorough review of the Authority's Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included a report by a developmental biologist and consideration of recent UK court rulings. As a result, transgender females, including Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a six-time title winner on the women's tour, will no longer be eligible to compete in women's events. However, they will still be able to participate in open tournaments. Van Leuven has expressed her disappointment, describing the decision as a significant setback for the trans community. The DRA aims to maintain a fair and inclusive environment, with the new policy set to be reviewed annually and adapted as necessary to ensure equal opportunities for all players.
