Dan Skelton expressed his elation after securing the trainers' championship title, a feat that had eluded him in previous seasons. The Alcester-based trainer had fallen short in the final stretch of the previous two campaigns, with Willie Mullins overtaking him on the last day. However, Skelton dominated the current season, becoming the first trainer to surpass £4 million in prize money. It's a relief to finally achieve this milestone," Skelton said, whose season total stands at £4,762,920 following an impressive Grand National Festival. "This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of my entire team, as well as the consistent performance of our horses. I'm grateful to my staff and, most importantly, to the owners who have supported me throughout this journey. "It's an absolute pleasure to have finally crossed the finish line, and we're thrilled to have done it for our owners and to be surrounded by our horses. Skelton had previously faced a strong challenge from Mullins in the final weeks of the season, but with limited Closutton representation in the remaining weekends, the path is clear for him to savor his victory. Mullins, who trails Skelton by £2,094,034, congratulated the champion trainer after his Grand National win with I Am Maximus, effectively conceding the title. Skelton's victory parade will culminate in the official trophy presentation at Sandown Park on April 25, capping off an extraordinary season that included six wins, including Grade One victories with Grey Dawning, Mirabad, and Bossman Jack, during the Grand National Festival.
