Wakefield surged to fourth place in the Betfred Super League standings, overtaking St Helens, after a resounding 34-0 win against their West Yorkshire rivals, Castleford, fueled by Jake Trueman and Oliver Pratt's double tries each. The match began with Trueman making a crucial tackle on Tom Weaver, thwarting Castleford's early scoring opportunity, before he successfully crossed over at the other end, stretching to touch the ball down. Although Jason Qareqare appeared to score for the hosts, his foot was deemed out of bounds, and Wakefield capitalized by scoring their second try in the 20th minute through Corey Hall in the corner. Trueman intercepted another pass, denying Sam Hall a try, and then Tyson Smoothy scored after receiving an offload from Tray Lolesio, who had just entered the game, putting Wakefield 16-0 ahead at halftime. Smoothy was denied a second try due to a knock-on, but Wakefield continued to dominate, with Max Jowitt kicking a penalty and then setting up Pratt for an impressive finish in the corner during the 56th minute. Following some slick teamwork, Cam Scott scored his first try of the afternoon, soon followed by Pratt's second, which put Wakefield 30-0 ahead. Pratt then played a key role in setting up Trueman for the final try in the 76th minute, marking Wakefield's fifth consecutive victory across all competitions and stamping their authority on the match. Wakefield now shares the same points as league leaders Warrington, as well as Leeds, Wigan, and Saints, while Castleford's heavy defeat drops them to the bottom of the standings, below York and Leigh, based on points difference.
