Lincoln City Achieves Historic Promotion to Championship After 65 Years

Lincoln City has made history by earning promotion to the Championship with five games to spare, following a thrilling 2-1 victory at Reading. The winning goal was scored by Jack Moylan in stoppage time, capping off an incredible rise for the Imps, who were playing non-League football just nine years ago. Under the guidance of Michael Skubala, the team has gone unbeaten in 24 matches and currently sits 12 points above second-placed Cardiff in League One. This promotion marks Lincoln City's first return to the second tier since 1961. The team's successful campaign has seen them win 27 matches in League One, with their only more successful seasons being in 1975/76 and 1951/52. The Imps got off to a strong start, with Ryan One scoring in the fifth minute, but Reading equalized in stoppage time through a Lewis Wing free-kick. However, Moylan's winner in the sixth minute of added time sealed the deal for Lincoln City.
