Chelsea to Face Manchester City in Women's FA Cup Semi-Finals
Defending Women's FA Cup champions Chelsea will face Women's Super League leaders Manchester City in the semi-finals. Chelsea secured their spot in the last four with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Kingsmeadow. Manchester City then earned a semi-final berth against Chelsea with a narrow 1-0 win over Championship side Birmingham, courtesy of Khadija Shaw's goal. The other semi-final match will feature Liverpool hosting Brighton, following their respective quarter-final wins on Sunday. The semi-final matches are scheduled to take place on the weekend of May 9/10, preceding the final on May 31. Chelsea's win over Tottenham was sealed by Veerle Buurman's stunning late strike, which beat Spurs goalkeeper Lize Kop in the 86th minute. Earlier, Eveliina Summanen's cross had leveled the score for the visitors in the second half, after Sam Kerr's header put Chelsea ahead before the interval. Manchester City's victory over Birmingham was thanks to Shaw's goal, assisted by Iman Beney's fine ball, which Shaw slotted past goalkeeper Lucy Thomas after eight minutes.
