Aspinall Claims German Darts Grand Prix Title with Victory Over Noppert

Nathan Aspinall emerged victorious in the German Darts Grand Prix, securing his fourth European Tour title with an 8-5 win over Danny Noppert in the final. Aspinall's triumph marked his return to winning form, as he overcame a strong challenge from Noppert to claim the £35,000 top prize. The Stockport star averaged 100.35 and hit seven 180s to seal the victory. Aspinall's path to the title included wins over Ricardo Pietreczko, Martin Schindler, Andrew Gilding, and Kevin Doets. He appeared set for a comfortable win after taking a 4-1 lead, but Noppert fought back to level the match. However, Aspinall responded with a series of impressive legs to take the lead and eventually closed out the match with a clinical 128 checkout. Aspinall's win equalled Phil Taylor's haul of four European Tour titles, and he expressed his delight at finding his love for the game again. The victory marked a significant milestone for Aspinall, who had been working to regain his motivation after a series of setbacks. The German Darts Grand Prix was a key event in the darts calendar, with the BetMGM Premier League season continuing with Night 10 in Brighton. The league table will be formed based on ranking points awarded per night, with the top four players progressing to Finals Night at The O2 in London on May 28.
