Robson's Grueling London Marathon Training: From Melbourne to Miami
Former Junior Wimbledon champion Laura Robson has been juggling her television presenter role with rigorous training for the London Marathon, set to take place in April. Her training regimen has taken her to various locations, including Melbourne during the Australian Open, Milan Cortina for the Winter Olympics, and Miami for the Miami Open, where she endured diverse weather conditions. Now back in the UK, Robson is gearing up for the 26.2-mile race that will start in Greenwich/Blackheath and finish at Buckingham Palace. "Training for the London Marathon is brutal," Robson admitted. "I'm not sure why people put themselves through this." Despite her Garmin and Strava suggesting she can achieve a sub-3:30 finish, Robson is aiming for a sub-3:40. To prepare, she has been focusing on a carb-rich diet and increasing her electrolyte intake to stay hydrated. Robson also sought advice from Padel players on maintaining a consistent marathon pace. Although she wishes she could run with more people, her work schedule has made it challenging. She is looking forward to the electric atmosphere of the marathon and the sense of accomplishment that comes with completing it. Robson is running in support of the Give It Your Max charity, which provides free tennis lessons and breakfast clubs for children. With her training nearing its peak, Robson is ready to take on the London Marathon and put her endurance to the test.
