Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Historic jockey Rachael Blackmore, the first woman to win the prestigious Randox Grand National, is to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. Blackmore, now 36 and retired, famously guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021. She will be formally recognized at a ceremony on the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday, joining an illustrious group including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as notable horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. This honor will be conferred near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which she will officially open. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore said, "My Grand National win on Minella Times is an unforgettable moment, and being named a Grand National Legend is a tremendous honor. I feel fortunate to be included in this history. I'm also excited to open Blackmore's Bar, an unexpected but cool opportunity for fans to enjoy during the event." After retiring in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 at the Cheltenham Festival, Blackmore's legacy continues to inspire.
