DeChambeau Eager for McIlroy Rivalry at The Masters

Bryson DeChambeau is looking forward to competing against Rory McIlroy at The Masters, following a valuable learning experience from last year's final round. DeChambeau, a favourite to win his third major title, has had top-six finishes at Augusta National for the past two years and is coming into the event with back-to-back LIV Golf League victories. In the previous year's final round, DeChambeau was in the final group with McIlroy and briefly took the lead, but ultimately finished tied fifth after a three-over 75, while McIlroy won to complete the career Grand Slam. DeChambeau has expressed his desire to have a rivalry with McIlroy, stating that it creates more excitement around the game of golf. 'It's great if we can continue to have a rivalry,' DeChambeau said. 'I don't see any problem with that. If anything, it kind of helps create more buzz around the game of golf.' DeChambeau reflected on last year's loss, saying it was a 'great learning lesson' and that he can put himself in positions to win. He also commented on his current form, saying his game is in the best place it has been, outside of one LIV Golf League event where he shot 58. Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley believes DeChambeau 'helped' McIlroy win the Grand Slam last year by providing an extra motivation. McGinley stated that DeChambeau's previous comments about McIlroy had driven him to focus and win the Grand Slam.
