Jango Baie Secures Victory in the Racing Welfare Bowl at Aintree

In a thrilling finish, Jango Baie, trained by Nicky Henderson, claimed the top prize in the Racing Welfare Bowl at Aintree, following his impressive performance as runner-up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The seven-year-old, ridden by Nico de Boinville, capitalized on the misfortune of Impaire Et Passe, who fell while in contention, and went on to win by 16 lengths over Protektorat. Henderson expressed his satisfaction with the result, stating that Jango Baie is not a rogue like his predecessor, Might Bite, and praised De Boinville's skills as a Grade One jockey. The victory marked a swift turnaround for Henderson and De Boinville, who had experienced disappointment in the preceding race with Lulamba. When asked about the decision to run Jango Baie again so soon after the Gold Cup, Henderson cited the extra week available this year and the horse's excellent shape, thanks to the efforts of his regular rider, Henry Main. Looking ahead to next season, Henderson identified the King George and the Gold Cup as the primary targets for Jango Baie, while Dan Skelton expressed pride in the performance of Protektorat, who finished second, and hinted at potential plans for the upcoming season.
