Johnston Returns to Training, Araujo's Celtic Career Possibly Over
Celtic's long-term injured player Alistair Johnston has resumed training, but defender Julian Araujo may have played his final game for the club. Johnston, a Canada right-back, has been out since October due to a hamstring injury and rejoined his teammates at the Lennoxtown training complex ahead of the Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren. Meanwhile, Araujo, on loan from Bournemouth, has suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh problem. Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed optimism about Johnston's progress, stating, 'He trained with the team today, which was very encouraging... I don't think he felt any ill effects.' However, O'Neill was less optimistic about Araujo's chances of returning, saying, 'Julian re-injured himself under supervision at Bournemouth... I don't think we will see him for the rest of the season.' O'Neill also confirmed that right-back Colby Donovan will miss Saturday's game due to a hamstring injury and may also be out for the Scottish Cup tie against the Saints. The Celtic manager welcomed the return of the Green Brigade, the team's ultras group, after a five-month ban was lifted, and acknowledged the strong support of the fans. Regarding the title race, O'Neill noted, 'I would still rather be in Hearts' position just now... They are in the lead with games running out, that is not a bad position to be in.'
