Preston Stages Comeback to Defeat Charlton

Charlton started strongly, with Greg Docherty narrowly missing the target in the opening minute. Joe Rankin-Costello then headed against the post from a Tyreece Campbell cross, before the Addicks took the lead in the 18th minute. Rankin-Costello volleyed in from close range after Sonny Carey's long throw was inadvertently flicked on by Daniel Jebbison. However, Preston equalized in the 25th minute through Lewis Dobbin, who headed in his eighth league goal of the campaign from Potts' cross. The visitors controlled the early stages of the second half, with Jebbison and Ben Whiteman missing chances. Charlton boss Nathan Jones made a double change in the 57th minute, introducing Matty Godden and Ibrahim Fullah. But it was Preston who took the lead in the 65th minute, with Potts finishing off a counter-attack. Charlton pushed for an equalizer, with Lloyd Jones and Matty Godden going close, but Preston held on for their first away win since January 4. Charlton manager Nathan Jones expressed concern over his team's home form, while Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom praised his team's performance, saying they had to 'show everything' to earn the win.
