Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in the Linz Open final after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-finals on Saturday. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but then faced a challenge as she suffered consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained her composure and broke Ruse to love in the eighth game, ultimately taking the set 6-4 after breaking her opponent's serve once more. The world number ten dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, and sealed the win 6-4, 6-1 after one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-final match. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, but Vekic fought back. However, Potapova held on to take the first set and continued her strong performance in the second set, dominating to build a 4-0 lead and eventually securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This marks Potapova's return to the final for the first time since her title win on debut three years ago. Notably, Potapova's win makes her the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, having represented Russia until December 2025. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with 18-year-old Andreeva having beaten Potapova in their last two encounters, although they are yet to play each other on clay.
