Dan Skelton has expressed his excitement after it became impossible for him to be overtaken in the champion trainer standings. The Alcester-based trainer has seen the title slip away in the previous two seasons, but this time he has dominated from the start, breaking the £4 million prize money barrier. Skelton said, "It's an incredible achievement, we've worked tirelessly over the years to get close, but it's wonderful to finally achieve it." Skelton, whose season total stands at £4,762,920, also praised his horses for their consistency and his staff for their dedication. With Willie Mullins conceding defeat, Skelton is set to receive the trophy for the first time at Sandown Park on April 25.
