Rachael Blackmore Set to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Historic jockey Rachael Blackmore, the first female rider to claim victory in the prestigious Randox Grand National, is slated for induction as a Grand National Legend in 2026. This recognition comes after her groundbreaking win on Minella Times at Aintree in 2021. The now-retired 36-year-old jockey will be formally honored during a ceremony marking the opening day of the Grand National Festival. Blackmore joins an esteemed group of racing luminaries, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as celebrated equine stars such as Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti, in being named a Grand National Legend. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on the same day. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Randox Grand National is an unforgettable moment in her life, and being included among the Grand National Legends is a profound honor. She also looks forward to launching Blackmore's Bar, an innovative concept she finds exciting and unique. Blackmore's illustrious career concluded with 575 wins, including 18 victories at the Cheltenham Festival, upon her retirement in May 2025.
