Birmingham City secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wrexham at St Andrew's, dealing a significant blow to the visitors' hopes of securing a Championship play-off spot. Wrexham had the chance to close the gap on sixth-placed Hull City to just two points with a win, but their lackluster performance meant they failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Birmingham, who had lost their previous three games, dominated the match from the outset, with Wrexham struggling to mount a response. Vicente came close to scoring for Birmingham before half-time, but was denied by Arthur Okonkwo's impressive goalkeeping. However, Vicente made amends just four minutes into the second half, heading home Kai Wagner's cross to give Birmingham the lead. The home side doubled their advantage when Christoph Klarer tapped in from close range following an error by Okonkwo. The defeat, combined with Wrexham's 5-1 loss to Southampton in their previous match, leaves them four points adrift of the top six with only four games remaining. Birmingham manager Chris Davies praised his team's performance, saying it was one of their best of the season, while Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson acknowledged that his side's soft goals had cost them the game.
