Dan Skelton Celebrates Historic Trainers' Championship Win

Dan Skelton has expressed his thrill and relief after mathematically securing the title of this season's champion trainer. The Alcester-based trainer had come close to winning the title in the previous two seasons, only to be narrowly beaten by Willie Mullins on the final day. However, Skelton has made amends this season, leading from the start and becoming the first trainer to surpass £4 million in prize money. "It's an incredible feeling, we've worked tirelessly over the past few years to get close, and it's great to finally achieve it," Skelton said, whose current total stands at £4,762,920 for the season. Skelton praised his team, staff, and owners for their support and hard work, saying, "It's a great reflection on everyone's efforts this year. The horses have been brilliant, and I'm grateful to the owners who have supported me and helped us reach this position." With Willie Mullins conceding defeat, Skelton can now savor his victory ahead of receiving the trophy at Sandown Park on April 25.
