JJ Spaun Claims Texas Open Title as MacIntyre Falls Short

JJ Spaun has secured his second Valero Texas Open title, finishing one shot ahead of Robert MacIntyre and Matt Wallace. The 2025 US Open champion made a stunning comeback with three birdies and an eagle on the back nine, carding a 5-under 67 to reach 17 under. MacIntyre, who had led for much of the week, completed his delayed third round with an even-par 72 and retained a one-shot lead heading into the final round. However, Spaun's impressive finish set the target, and despite MacIntyre's late eagle, he was unable to match Spaun's total. The Scot's challenge ended at the 18th when his birdie attempt fell short, handing Spaun his first victory since last year's US Open triumph. Spaun, who had not finished inside the top 20 in seven PGA Tour starts this year, reflected on his win, saying, "This game is so crazy... I've just been trying to take each day as it comes and accept what I have." MacIntyre and Wallace were joined in a tie for second by Kim, while Ludvig Åberg shared fifth place with Andrew Putnam.
