David Warner Faces Drunk Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with drunk driving in Sydney, according to reports. New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday night in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement from the New South Wales Police revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when police were conducting random breath tests on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen stopping short of the testing site and parking, prompting officers to approach the vehicle and administer a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offence, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Following his retirement from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in franchise tournaments and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was previously reported that he had been granted time at home over Easter but was set to rejoin his team ahead of their game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, although it is unclear if he will participate in the fixture.
