Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who created history by becoming the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. At 36 years old, the retired jockey, who guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021, will be recognized in a ceremony on the first day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. She will join an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as renowned horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony will take place near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Blackmore expressed her gratitude, saying, 'The moment I won the Randox Grand National on Minella Times at Aintree is etched in my memory forever. To see my name alongside other Grand National Legends is a tremendous honor, and I feel fortunate to be a part of this legacy. I'm also excited to launch Blackmore's Bar at the racecourse, an opportunity I never thought I'd have. It's an innovative idea that I hope people will enjoy throughout the week.' After retiring from riding in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 victories at the Cheltenham Festival, Blackmore's induction serves as a testament to her remarkable achievements in the world of horse racing.
