Prograis Predicts Benn's Risky Move Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn is taking a significant risk by facing him, and this gamble will ultimately prove to be a costly mistake. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he has previously achieved middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive fight at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to face Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "They've set the terms in his favor, but I'm confident I can emerge victorious," Prograis stated. "I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a substantial jump for me." Prograis proposed a weight stipulation for the day after the fight, but it was rejected. Despite this, he remains unfazed, saying, "I know I'm the better fighter, and I'm not concerned about weight stipulations. Let's focus on making this fight happen." Prograis is adamant that he will not be bound by a rematch clause following his bout with Benn. "We don't have a rematch clause in place," the American explained. "However, if the fans want to see a rematch and it makes sense, then why not?" Prograis had initially planned to move up to 147lbs, but he was called to face Benn on six weeks' notice. Despite the short notice, Prograis was already training and feels that this has given him an advantage. "They're taking a risk by facing me, especially since I've been actively training," he said. Prograis does not consider Benn to be in his league, stating, "I don't think he's on my level. I know I'm the better fighter." He views Benn as an average fighter, saying, "I think he's an okay fighter, but not exceptional. If you look at our accomplishments, mine far surpass his. I've been ranked number one in the world twice and have held the championship title twice, which is something Benn has never achieved." Prograis is eager to use a win over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title shot. "A victory will open up numerous opportunities for me," he said. "I'm confident that after this fight, something significant will happen. My goal is to become a three-time champion."
