Millwall's Hopes for Automatic Promotion Take a Hit with Loss to Norwich

A substitute appearance by Oscar Schwartau proved decisive as he scored the winning goal for Norwich in their 2-1 victory over Millwall, significantly boosting the promotion prospects of their rivals Ipswich. Millwall, who had started the day in second place, initially took the lead through Mihailo Ivanovic after the break. However, a stunning long-range effort by Pelle Mattsson and Schwartau's strike sealed the win for Norwich, handing a considerable advantage to the teams chasing automatic promotion, including Ipswich. Norwich's victory, their seventh in nine away league matches, keeps their slim playoff hopes alive. The match began with Norwich on the front foot, Anis Ben Slimane's shot being deflected wide within the first minute. Mathias Kvistgaarden and Ali Ahmed also had attempts blocked by Millwall's defenders, who showed the same resilience they had in their significant Good Friday win at Middlesbrough. When Slimane finally broke through, his shot was comfortably handled by goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. Norwich had two prime opportunities to score first; Jack Stacey's shot went across the goal and just wide, and Kenny McLean failed to convert Ahmed's cross.
