David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with drunk driving in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday night, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, and pulled over a 39-year-old individual. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement from the New South Wales Police revealed that the incident occurred around 5:30 pm on April 5, when officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a van that had allegedly attempted to avoid the testing site. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing, which returned a positive result. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense. This development comes as Warner is set to captain the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, with the final taking place on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play on the franchise circuit. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
