The World Snooker Championship is set to commence, with defending champion Zhao Xintong returning to the Crucible and Ronnie O'Sullivan vying for a record-breaking eighth title. The tournament will feature a strong field, including Judd Trump, Mark Selby, Kyren Wilson, Neil Robertson, and Shaun Murphy, starting from April 18. With a rich history dating back to 1927, the championship has been dominated by legendary players such as Joe Davis, Steve Davis, and Stephen Hendry. O'Sullivan, who will be making his 34th consecutive appearance, will face stiff competition as he bids to surpass Hendry's record of seven titles. The top 16 seeds will be randomly drawn against the 16 qualifying round winners on April 16. The tournament will also feature notable bonuses, including a £40,000 prize for the highest break and an additional £147,000 bonus for any player who achieves two maximum breaks across the Triple Crown events and the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
