Trans Women Banned from Competing in Female Darts Tournaments

The Darts Regulation Authority has announced a new eligibility policy, stating that only individuals assigned female at birth can participate in women's darts tournaments. This decision was made after a thorough review of the Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included a report by a developmental biologist and consideration of extensive legal advice and recent UK court rulings. As a result, transgender females will no longer be allowed to compete in women's events, but can still participate in open tournaments. Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a prominent transgender darts player, has expressed her disappointment and frustration with the decision, stating that it is a significant setback for the trans community. The DRA has emphasized its commitment to inclusivity and will continue to monitor developments in transgender participation in sports, reviewing the Eligibility Policy annually.
