England Claim Convincing Win, but Jones and Bern Identify Areas for Improvement

England's Megan Jones and Sarah Bern conceded that there is room for improvement, despite their team kicking off the Women's Six Nations campaign with a resounding 33-12 victory over Ireland. The world champions, who last played in the World Cup final against Canada in September, secured their 34th consecutive Test win thanks to two tries from Bern and one each from Amy Cockayne, Jess Breach, and Ellie Kildunne. Although they achieved a bonus-point win in front of a record-breaking crowd of 77,120 at Allianz Stadium, Jones acknowledged that England did not perform at their best. 'Given the nerves associated with starting a major campaign after a successful World Cup, we were not perfect, but we managed to find our rhythm,' Jones told the BBC. 'Playing in front of large crowds is what we wanted, and we delivered that today. While there are certainly areas for improvement, I am proud of the team's performance.' Jones led the team for the first time in the absence of World Cup-winning captain Zoe Stratford, who is expecting her first child. 'Tonight, I will take time to reflect on the experience, from walking out of the tunnel to singing the national anthem,' Jones added. With only seven players from the World Cup final win at Twickenham returning, Bern recognized that the revamped team would face challenges in finding its footing. 'We have a new set of players, including many young talents, so we didn't expect a flawless performance,' Bern said. 'There were aspects to celebrate, but also areas that require reflection. The electric atmosphere in the stadium, however, was a significant factor in our success.'
