Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history as the first woman to claim the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. The 36-year-old jockey, who hung up her riding boots, famously guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021. This recognition will be formally bestowed upon her during a ceremony at the Grand National Festival's opening day. Blackmore joins an esteemed group of racing luminaries, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as legendary horses Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which she will officially unveil on the same day. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National was an unforgettable moment and being named a Grand National Legend is a tremendous honor. She also expressed excitement about opening Blackmore's Bar, an unexpected yet thrilling opportunity. Having retired with an impressive 575 career wins, including 18 at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival, Blackmore's legacy continues to inspire.
