New Zealand Achieves Record-Breaking Women's Run Chase Led by Kerr's Exceptional Century

The New Zealand women's team made history by completing the highest successful run chase in women's one-day international cricket, driven by captain Melie Kerr's outstanding 179 not out from 139 balls. The White Ferns successfully pursued a target of 347 with two deliveries remaining against South Africa at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, with Kerr hitting 23 fours and a six, including the winning boundary, to secure a two-wicket victory. Kerr, who had previously scored an unbeaten 232 against Ireland in 2018, becoming the second woman to achieve an ODI double hundred after Australian legend Belinda Clark, considers her knock against South Africa as her best performance. She stated, 'It's my top knock. Achieving a big hundred in a high-pressure chase against a quality side is definitely my best.' Kerr, who will be playing for MI London in The Hundred this summer, also scored a century in the final T20 international against South Africa, helping her team win the series 4-1. The ODI series between New Zealand and South Africa concludes on Saturday in Wellington, with the series currently tied at 1-1.
